On Tuesday 26 September we have a very important guest for the day at Hull Collegiate School, The Honourable Reverend Dr Hamlet Mbabazi Kubushenga from Uganda. Award winning social entrepreneur and former politician, Dr Hamlet is the man that set up Great Lakes High School, its four feeder primary schools and the Great Lakes Regional College, ensuring an education, healthcare, accommodation, safe water and a secure food supply for thousands of Ugandan children.

Every year, our school sponsors 25 children at Great Lakes High School and every two years a team of pupils and staff travel to Uganda in order to teach and support pupils in the Kanungu District. We are always welcomed most dearly by Dr Hamlet. The children and parents in Kanungu truly value education as an opportunity to escape the cycle of real poverty.

In 2015 Project Coffee was born. Project Coffee is a very special initiative led by Hull Collegiate School supported by local businesses and grant funding, to import Ugandan Arabica coffee from the families in the Kanungu district, to sell across the UK. We are pleased to announce that Project Coffee is now ‘Safi Coffee’, which is now available to buy online at Safi Coffee. Safi means ‘Pure’ and ‘Fresh’ in the Ugandan language of Swahili. Every penny of profit from Safi Coffee sales pays for more children to attend school in Uganda.

We will be celebrating the official launch of Safi Coffee at this event in the Drawing Room and Main Foyer with champagne, canapés, musical entertainment and your chance to sample this wonderful tasting coffee. There will be a presentation on how it all started with guest speaker Dr Hamlet and local coffee experts from Lincoln & York. Lincoln & York is a leading coffee sourcing, roasting and packing specialist; they are the discreet manufacturer behind hundreds of coffee blends across the UK and Europe, including Safi Coffee.

Everyone is welcome and entry is FREE by simply registering online. .
